Each month, find out more about our members in 3 questions! This month, Emilie Ducat from Algolesko, answers our questions.

What is your business activity?

We are seaweed farmers: we cultivate laminar seaweed on 150 hectares of concessions in the open sea in Brittany. We are located in the Natura 2000 zone, where our seaweed grows in preserved waters.
From reproduction (hatchery) to harvesting, we are involved in the entire cultivation cycle in order to guarantee our customers authenticity, quality and traceability.
Our 100% Breton production is certified organic, and is offered in three raw transformations: fresh, frozen, and dehydrated.

Who are your products/services intended for?

We are currently involved in several sectors: first of all the food industry, then the nutraceutical and cosmetic industries, and the extraction of molecules of interest.
Concerning the food industry, our products are aimed at partners looking for healthy, innovative and responsibly grown products.
In addition to being a gourmet ingredient with gustatory virtues simple to reveal, seaweed is one of the richest sources of minerals and nutrients in the plant kingdom: Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium, Phosphorus, vitamins....
We offer a range of easy to use pre-processed products for all recipe applications, from starter to dessert.
To be found in vitamin bars as well as in the plates of starred restaurants, through healthy and festive ready meals or drinks.

En quoi l’innovation et la recherche sont importantes dans votre secteur d’activité ?

We are a team committed to sustainable and innovative seaweed farming, providing a virtuous natural resource to our customers.
Enhancing the organoleptic and nutritional qualities of algae is the key to encouraging and democratizing their place as a marine plant in our daily diets: this is where innovation and research is important, to explore, document, and communicate all these virtues to the general public.
Innovation and research, through Aquimer, also allows us to create areas for discussion and joint work with the scientific sector, to view production from a broader perspective, and thus to make our expertise richer.
