« Les Pêcheurs de Bretagne » is a producers organisation, recognized at an European level as a common market organization in the fishery products and aquaculture sector. Its purpose is to ensure the rational fishing exercice and the enhancement of sales conditions and the production techniques improvement of its members.

The Fishermen of Brittany is a recognised professional organisation, bringing together 700 vessels and 3,000 sailors, for a total of 100,000 tonnes of fish caught each year. The OP, a structure founded by and for fishermen, has adopted a mode of governance that puts professionals at the heart of decisions. The Administrative Council (AC), composed of fishermen appointed by their peers, discusses the main issues related to the activities of the organisation’s members and takes the decisions (membership, management measures for fishing activities, actions of the OP…). By organising themselves in this way, the member fishermen affirm their willingness to promote a management method for sustainable fishing, based on the individual responsibility of the individuals involved and the collective management of fishing rights. As a producer organisation, they intend to support this model and bring their weight into negotiations at both national and Community level.  Through these essential values, it is also a question of valuing the professions, women and men of fishing and encouraging consumers to choose products from the responsible fishing as practised by the members of Les Pêcheurs de Bretagne.
