Flanders, the Nord-Pas de Calais and the Somme have quite a wide-ranging maritime industry of worldwide scope. Boulogne-sur-Mer is France's most important fishing port and the main European logistics platform and seafood and aquaculture products processing platform. These regions also have an important textile industry. Over the past few years, this textile industry has witnessed a change towards the production of technical textile structures.
The overall aim of this project is to explore and facilitate opportunities to develop innovative textile products intended for marine applications. The ultimate goal of the project is to create a platform where businesses from both sectors and target regions will be able to meet in order to develop economically and become an attractive « Sea & Textiles » transversal cluster on a European scale, to identify and accompany emerging innovative collaborative projects, to establish a road-map at the cluster level that will enable us to identify all the potentials, perspectives, resources to be mobilised and actions to be implemented in order to achieve strategic positioning in the medium/long term with a view to the creation of jobs and activity.

This project, labellised by the AQUIMER Pole of Competitiveness on the 20th April 2012,is co-labellised by the Up-Tex Pole.
